Portugal-New Functionalities for Electronic Invoices

Last September, significant changes were made to the way invoices, receipt-invoices and receipts are issued on the Portuguese Tax Authority web page.

Unlike employees, self-employed workers must issue invoices, receipt-invoices and receipts through the Tax Authority web page to provide legal support for the activities they carry out and the amounts charged, whether services rendered, sales of products or advances received.

In September of this year, important changes and new features were implemented in the process of issuing this type of documents.

We now review some of the new features and will try to address the new possibilities and options regarding this type of discharge documents on the web page www.portaldasfinancas.gov.pt.

To access invoices and bills on the Tax Authority web page, you can search through the quick search field at the top of the page:

By pressing the magnifying glass button, select the invoices and receipts option:

Then you can choose to issue or consult your electronic invoices and receipts:

In the ISSUE (EMITIR) option, you can find the following possibilities: issue invoices or receipts, create customers, products, services or others.

 

Before proceeding with issuing your invoices or receipts, you must now create records for each of your customers (purchasers), products, services or others.
